Salsa To Have Fun OR Fun to Have Salsa

I am in front of my computer working (I am not surfing porn darling), when it hit me. I have been dancing for nearly 40 weeks already *Applause*, thank you. But the passion, the drive has yet to cease. Furthermore, I think it’s rapidly growing. If Salsa is a crime, listed below are some offenses that I have made.

1. I have salsa music in my phone, mp3 player, computer, office computer and “Un Beso” embedded in my brain.
2. Every time I see a cockroach, I would go “La Cucaracha”
3. When I am alone in the lift, I would practice my double right turn.
4. When I am in the MRT, I would practice my 4 steps Bachata, clinging dear life on to the handle bars.
5. I sing to the lyrics although I have no shit what it means.

If Salsa is a crime, I will be in prison for life. Probably a few strokes of the canes because of the shines I made in the lift that gave the security officer a heart attack. With his dying wish “Can you tell me what the f*** that bugger is doing??”

I must admit I do practice hard. I practice my body movements, I made sure that I am on beat and the pauses, the jerks are accurate and nice. (I am not having spasms you freak) Ask my beloved girlfriend and she will tell you how much she hates salsa just because it stole me away from her. She will tell you how irritating it gets when she is on the bed nice and warm buffing her nails, enjoying the sounds of Sarah Michelle Gellar from the TV while I am like panting next to her because I just practiced my Miami Shine!!

“That was fun”, “That was nice”. The most amazing words I can get from a partner which I just salsa with. The amount of satisfaction is unbelievable. When I started as a beginner, everyone just said “Thank you” after a dance, with a look of insatisfaction, an urge for more linger on the face. But nowadays, besides getting the almost infamous “Thank you”, I do get other very appreciative comments. Very nice, wow, you are not bad and I would love to dance with you again. These are the form of encouragement that would make me want to do better. Even a simple basic step, there are so much knowledge involved. Do not bounce; do not take too big a step.

Have you ever had an orgasm while in a dance? In your brain, you wanted to shout it out “Yesssssssssssssssssssssssshhhh…….”

No? Its okay, it’s like having a juicy piece of tenderloin, the juices splirting in your mouth as you chew, and chew, slowly, pieces by pieces. You close your eyes, enjoying the aroma, the smell, the fragrance, that slowly tickles every single cell in your body. You go “Mmmmmmmmmmmmm” Well yup, I had that in Salsa.

I strongly believe that Salsa is to have fun. One should not concentrate on oneself too much. If you focus too much on your turn pattern, it might look like overdoing it. Over-cooked meat does not taste good. Making your partner look good is of extreme importance. When they look good, you look good. When they look good, they will also try to make you look good. And lastly, when they look good, they will be happy and so will you. I totally agree to Salsa Slut that dancing is like sex with clothes on. You need to tease your partner. I do not think that going for the armpits or poking of any sensitive areas is considered teasing. And also please don’t start talking about lame jokes like “why did the chicken cross the road” or any “Knock Knock” series. Do something unexpected in a dance. Tease them in the dance so that you see a smile flashing across the face and you will know, “Boy, I did it”

Recently, I was a given a name which got me pondering, I am named Johnny Ah-Go-Go. Damn, Ah-Go-Go?? Am I like a stripper in a strip club which probably would have cost you quite a bomb? Or am I named after a cheap Salsero who always go to Ah-Go-Go bars. (Damn!!! No-one is suppose to know) Anyway, I still think it is a cool name which I will accept dignifiedly, and I promise to all Salseras that I will keep on practicing to bring more fun and laughter in every dance. It is fun to have Salsa.

This is probably the ugliest photo I have posted up my blog which I am doing it for the sake of art and for the name of Johnny Ah-Go-Go. I will sacrifice for mankind in the name of Salsa. Give me strength. Give me courage.
